Two operators, the same price, different routes

Barcelona has two hop-on hop-off bus operators: Barcelona Bus Turístic (TMB, Blue and Red routes, 36 stops) and Barcelona City Tour (Grupo Julià, Green and Orange routes, 34 stops). Both charge €33 for a 24-hour adult ticket and €44 for 48 hours, run from 9:00 to 19:00 and stop at Sagrada Família and Park Güell. They differ in uptown and Montjuïc coverage, frequency, cancellation terms and extras such as Wi-Fi or a catamaran combo.

Which bus suits your trip?

Each pick is based on a published fact, shown under the card. Where the operators are equal, we say so.

Flexible travel dates

Barcelona Bus Turístic

Tickets can be used within 180 days of purchase, so you do not have to commit to a day.

Criterion: time allowed to start using the ticket (180 days vs the date booked).

Barcelona City Tour

The official store offers free cancellation until the day of the tour. Bus Turístic does not state a policy.

Criterion: cancellation terms published by the operator.

Its Orange Route stops at Camp Nou – Museu FC Barcelona. Bus Turístic's FC Barcelona stop is out of service.

Criterion: an in-service stop at the attraction.

Only the Blue Route goes uptown: Tibidabo (Plaça Kennedy), Sarrià and Pedralbes Monastery.

Criterion: stops listed by each operator.

Barcelona Bus Turístic

The Red Route has a Telefèric de Montjuïc stop. City Tour does not list one.

Hearing-aid users

Barcelona City Tour

Criterion: accessibility features published by each operator.

For a first visit or a one-day stay, price is not a tie-breaker: both cost €33 for 24 hours. Choose by the stops you want.

How hop-on hop-off works

  1. Pick an operator and a duration

24 or 48 hours of unlimited rides on that operator's two routes.

  2. Book on the provider's website

The operator or booking platform takes the payment and sends your ticket.

  3. Show your ticket when you first board

Validity starts with your first ride.

  4. Hop off and back on

Get off at any stop, visit, and catch a later bus on either route of the same operator.

Hop-on hop-off or panoramic tour?

Hop-on hop-off tickets let you get off at any stop and continue later. The night and Christmas tours are different: one guided loop of about 1 h 20 to 2 h with no stops, sold for a specific date.

Check before you book

  • Which stops you want, and which operator serves them
  • Whether you need 24 or 48 hours
  • Cancellation terms on the booking platform
  • Current service notices (closed stops, events)
  • Separate entry tickets for monuments

Frequently asked questions

How many hop-on hop-off bus companies are there in Barcelona?

Two. Barcelona Bus Turístic is run by Transports de Barcelona (TMB) with Turisme de Barcelona and has City Sightseeing as its international partner. Barcelona City Tour is run by Grupo Julià. Other websites that sell hop-on hop-off tickets in Barcelona resell one of these two services. See the side-by-side comparison.

How much does the hop-on hop-off bus cost in Barcelona?

Both operators charge the same official fares: €33 for a 24-hour adult ticket and €44 for 48 hours. Children aged 4–12 pay €18 or €23, and seniors (65+) and people with a disability over 33% pay €28 or €39. Both operators advertise 10% off when you buy on their own websites. Compare all tickets.

Can I use the same ticket on both buses?

No. A Barcelona Bus Turístic ticket is valid on its Blue and Red routes, and a Barcelona City Tour ticket on its Green and Orange routes. They are separate companies.

Should I buy a 24-hour or a 48-hour ticket?

Each route takes about 2 hours (City Tour: 2 h 10 and 2 h 30), so riding both routes of one operator takes 4–5 hours before you get off anywhere. If you want to visit monuments along the way, 48 hours costs €11 more for an adult (€22 per day instead of €33). Validity counts from first use.

Do both buses stop at Sagrada Família and Park Güell?

Yes. Bus Turístic stops at Sagrada Família on the Red Route and at Park Güell on the Blue Route. City Tour stops at Sagrada Família on the Orange Route and at Park Güell on the Green Route. See which bus stops at each attraction.

Is monument entry included in the bus ticket?

No. Neither operator lists monument entry among what the hop-on hop-off ticket includes. Book Sagrada Família, Park Güell or Casa Batlló separately.
